What makes a man a Man?

What makes a man a Man?

It seems like a lofty and far-reaching topic, but I want to talk about it. The message I think is simple, yet it's all-encompassing. It can be found in a lot of "men". They don't need to be macho, or good looking, or whatever most people think most men are.

I don't think I'm articulate enough to actually describe it fully. I'm just saying I glimpsed what it was, and I'm trying my best to express it with my limited level of expression. Or perhaps, it's something that cannot be described fully at all! To bridge this gap between what I have seen as a "real Man", and the reader, I will present examples of real Men, (a lot of my examples will be in TV to give readers a common ground)

What's funny is that this list will contain some obvious choices, but I would point out that it's not the obvious traits that made them real Men--tough looking, spit-cleaning, rugged men. They have those traits that are attractive to women, but it's not my definition of what a real Man is. Another group of men that belong to this category are men that are less obvious. They are often described as geeky, wierdo, or even effeminate.

But I assure you, they pass--clearly and irrevocably--what a real Man is. And finally, there is one person that belongs to this list of "real Men" who is actually of the other gender. The person is a she! "Wait wait wait, what the hell are you talking about?!" You might ask. A women included in the definition of a "real Man"??

My short answer is "yes, absolutely." The long answer is that once you have gotten the "groove" of what I'm trying to say, you will see that being a man is not limited to one's physical attributes. But to say it's wholly an internal attribute is limiting it either. In a way, it is both.

But I'm digressing. This is not yet the time to discuss this aspect of what a man is. For starters, let's begin with a character that a lot of people will agree on what a man is...

(To be continued.)
